Healthy minds.
Resilient communities.

The Community Health Charter Initiative brings mental health care into everyday primary care, through trained community health workers.

Why we exist

Mental health belongs in every clinic.

There are too few specialists, and stigma keeps people silent. So care has to move closer to people, into the places they already trust.

How it works

Screen. Support. Refer. Learn.

1

Screen

Trained community health workers screen for depression and anxiety, with consent.

2

Support

Brief psychosocial support, close to home, from trained and supervised workers.

3

Refer

Clear referral pathways connect people to specialist care.

4

Learn

An anonymised dashboard shows where stress is rising, so outreach goes where it is needed.

Programmes

Where we start.

Three programmes lead our work. Four more grow from them.

Primary care integration

Community health workers and clinic staff trained to screen, support and refer people with depression and anxiety, with specialist advice by teleconsultation.

AI screening and surveillance

SMS and USSD screening that flags rising stress in a community. Data is anonymised and a person reviews every alert.

Stigma reduction

Radio, schools and faith leaders, led by people with lived experience.

More programmes

Workplace wellness and integrity

Counselling, ethics workshops and anonymous reporting for banks, clinics and NGOs.

Research and policy

Local evidence and advocacy to put mental health into national health budgets.

Board and financial controls

A board that meets at least quarterly, two signatories on every payment and an annual external audit.

Anti-fraud and speak-up

An anonymous reporting channel, an Integrity Officer and protection from retaliation.

Data, AI and safeguarding

Informed consent, minimal data, a human in the loop on every AI tool and clinical oversight of every service.
